Early voting underway for Hutto runoff election

Early voting for the Hutto City Council Place 1 runoff election began June 1.

On the ballot: In the May 2 election in the race for Place 1, Jerrel W. Reynolds received the most votes with 41.9% of 984 ballots cast. Trailing Reynolds was Brandy McCool with 24.1% of the votes, Sarosh Jafri with 23.07% of the votes, and Luiz Dunham with 10.7%.

With no candidate receiving a majority vote, the race for Place 1 headed to a runoff election between Reynolds and McCool.

The current seat holder is interim council member Charles Warner, who was appointed June 8 after the resignation of former council member Brian Thompson on Dec. 22.

Construction underway at Pflugerville Medical Complex

Construction is underway for a 15,530-square-foot medical office building designed to support the growing healthcare needs of the community.

The gist: The Pflugerville Medical Complex, located at the intersection of Colorado Sand Drive and East Pflugerville Parkway, is a two-story medical office building now offered for preleasing.

The building sits at a corner directly across from the new H-E-B and adjacent to one of the entrances of the Pflugerville Baylor Scott & White Medical Center. The building offers 10,000 square feet on the ground level and 5,000 square feet on the second floor, each available as standalone tenancy or divisible to fit a tenants specific needs.

Opal Real Estate is developing and leasing the project on behalf of the ownership group. The shell building is expected to complete by the end of the year and the custom finished suites will be offered for lease beginning early 2027, according to Carter Raney, managing principal at Opal.

Cayman Airways launches seasonal route at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport officials announced May 24 that its newest airline partner, Cayman Airways, will offer a seasonal nonstop route between Austin and Owen Roberts International Airport in the Cayman Islands through August.

The details: According to officials, the route is Cayman Airways' only nonstop service from Texas. The route will operate on Sundays weekly through Aug. 16 on a Boeing 737-8 aircraft and feature:

  • 160 seats, including a Business Class cabin
  • Free carry-on bag and personal item
  • Complimentary meals and the airline's signature Seven Fathoms Rum Punch
  • Free streaming inflight entertainment
  • Device charging at every seat

CR 175 widening
Project: The project will widen south of Creek Meadow Cove to RM 2243 in Leander, and is expected to improve capacity and regional connectivity.

Project: The new signalized light provides easier access to and from the H-E-B in Bee Cave for those traveling east or west on Hwy. 71 through a protected turn in and out of The Uplands neighborhood.
