Dual-branded Applebee’s and IHOP opens in North San Antonio

After closing earlier this year for a renovation project, this restaurant has reopened its doors on San Antonio’s Northwest side.

Current situation: Another dual-branded Applebee’s and IHOP recently opened at 9911 I-10, San Antonio, near Wurzbach Road.

Restaurant staff told Community Impact the eatery officially opened on Oct. 27.

Originally a single IHOP, the restaurant is one of several throughout the area to close and reopen as the dual-branded concept.

Recently, a new location opened in northeast San Antonio featuring both restaurants, according to previous reporting from Community Impact.

Both Applebee’s and IHOP are owned by the parent company Dine Brands Global.

The dual-branded concept “leverages both brands to provide guests two unique dining experiences under one roof,” according to the company’s website.

Explained: The eatery is split in half, one side containing the Applebee’s menu and the other serving IHOP breakfast items.

Utility district approves plan to secure water resources

The Green Valley Special Utility District, or GVSUD, seeks to modernize one of the area’s most precious resources—its water supply—through its first-ever strategic plan.

The overview: On April 24, the GVSUD board of directors adopted the strategic plan, establishing goals and initiatives for the future of the area’s water infrastructure.

GVSUD’s mission statement, according to the company website, is to provide “sustainable, reliable and efficient water solutions” by connecting customers to its water supply and improving local water infrastructure. General Manager Phil Gage said that the district serves water to more than 110,000 people as a political subdivision of the state.

“Our number one mission in life is [to] deliver treated water to our customers the best that we can, as clean as we can, and also do the same thing with the environment when we’re treating [our] water,” Gage said.
