Plano City Council approved a $500,000 incentive for a sour cream company, Daisy Brand, to headquarter in the city at a meeting July 27.

In a nutshell: Daisy Brand will be relocating its office from Dallas to Granite Park Four in Plano, per city documents. The company will be required to invest at least $10 million on property improvements at its new 54,498-square-foot office space and regularly operate there by the end of December 2027.

Kenny’s East Coast Pizza in Plano has closed its doors.

The specifics: The restaurant near the corner of Park Boulevard and Ohio Drive shut down on July 12 after 10 years in business. Kenny’s served a variety of pizzas, sandwiches and pasta dishes.

According to signage in the building’s door, many employees were moved to other Kenny’s restaurants including Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill and Kenny’s Italian Kitchen in Dallas, and the Frisco and Plano locations of Kenny’s Burger Joint.

Texas Woman’s University will construct a $30 million brand-new athletics facility, the university announced.

What’s happening: The university received a $10 million donation from an alumna that will go toward the on-campus athletics facility, according to a news release. The venue is expected to break ground in 2027.

Dawn Chaney, who played three sports at TWU in the 1960s, made the donation to the project. The new facility will bear her name. 

The athletics complex will be 30,000-35,000 square feet and will support the university’s growing athletics program as well as the needs of student-athletes, the release states.

“I am excited to support this new athletics complex because it will provide student-athletes with the resources, facilities and opportunities they deserve to excel in competition, in the classroom and in life,” Chaney said.
