ARA Diagnostic Imaging to open new Leander location in September

A new ARA Diagnostic Imaging location will open in Leander in early September, offering a range of medical scans, ARA President Dr. Greg Connor said in an email.

The details: Connor described the location as a “full-service center” that will offer scans, including:

  • MRI
  • CT
  • Mammography
  • Bone densitometry
  • Ultrasound

The ARA Leander Outpatient Imaging Center will be the company’s 19th location in Central Texas. It is housed in a freestanding new build, Connor said.

Liberty Hill to spend $2.5M to pave City Park parking lot

The gravel parking lot at Liberty Hill City Park will be paved after City Council approved $2.5 million in funding for the project July 8.

The details: The gravel lot will be replaced with a 100,000-square-foot concrete surface by contractor Patin Construction. It will also be expanded, adding new wings to bring the total number of parking spots to 230.

The project will also include planting new trees around the park.

The parking lot renovation is necessary because of “tremendous growth” in the demand for parking at City Park during soccer season, city documents state.

Williamson County celebrates opening of new admin building

Williamson County officials celebrated the grand opening of the Williamson County Administration Building on July 14 with a ribbon-cutting ahead of the first Commissioners Court meeting in the new facility.

The 120,000-square-foot county building houses customer-facing services like the tax assessor and county clerk's offices and will host Commissioners Court meetings going forward.

Learn more: The new facility, located at 1848 Texas Trail, is big enough to accommodate Williamson County as the third-fastest-growing county in the country, County Judge Steven Snell said at the celebration.

Key features of the new building include:

  • An expanded county tax office with a drive-thru
  • A new county clerk’s office
  • A larger courtroom, which can be converted into a meeting space

What else? To facilitate access to the new building, the county completed a $2.7 million expansion of Wilco Way, funded through the county’s road and bridge budget.

On the southern edge of Leander, a restaurant is serving up authentic flavors from Chettinad, a region of South India with a rich history of spice trading.

House of Chettinad offers a restaurant and bar managed by executive chef and founder Mahendran Gunasekaran, whose professional career spans decades and continents.

Gunasekaran said Chettinad’s flavors are set apart by the “bold” mixture of spices, owing to the influence of the spice trade on the region.
