Missouri City officials are considering annexing the Sienna Management District for additional tax revenue.
Zooming in: The district, which was created in 2016 through a strategic city partnership agreement, is being considered for annexation due to zoning confusion and because it is already partially within city limits, City Attorney E. Joyce Iyamu said.
The annexation would expand the city's boundaries, putting officials in charge of activities such as law enforcement, firefighting and animal services, while allowing the city to collect an estimated $540,236 in additional net revenues, Iyamu said.
Diving in deeper: The district has three apartment complexes, each valued at about $40 million, Iyamu said. The complexes house about 1,100 people in 860 units, and they would likely fall within District C.
What’s next: City Council will reassess annexation after the Nov. 4 election, once the new council is selected, Iyamu said.
