San Antonio funds Magik Theatre renovation

On Dec, 11, the San Antonio City Council approved a $2,245,000 contract with Jamail & Smith Construction for the Magik Theatre Renovation project.

Long story short: According to city documents, the Magik Theatre Renovation project was part of the 2022 bond program, which voters approved on May 7, 2022.  The project includes the replacement of the theater’s HVAC system, accessibility upgrades, lighting work, improving the exterior, masonry work and roofing repairs.

Located at 420 South Alamo St. beside Hemisfair’s Yanaguana Garden, the Magik Theatre provides local children with entertainment and education, such as musical productions, summer camps and serves as a field trip location for schools across the city since its opening in 1994.

Funding for the project will be taken from the 2022 general obligation bond.

Stay tuned: Construction is estimated to begin in January 2026 and be completed in June 2026.
