After three years of being in Stage 2 drought restrictions, New Braunfels moved to Stage 1 on July 28 following recent rainfall in the region.

What it means: The change to Stage 1 means watering with a hand-held hose, bucket, drip irrigation system or soaker hose that does not spray water into the air is allowed any day at any time. In Stage 2, it was only allowed before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m. on any day, according to a news release from the city utility company and previous reporting by Community Impact. 

However, landscape watering with an irrigation system or sprinkler is limited to once per week. Under Conservation Stage 1, irrigation is permitted before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m., according to the release. The schedule for the use of a sprinkler or irrigation system is:

• Addresses ending with 0 or 1: Monday

• Addresses ending with 2 or 3: Tuesday

• Addresses ending with 4 or 5: Wednesday

• Addresses ending with 6 or 7: Thursday

• Addresses ending with 8 or 9: Friday

Home Instead, a private in-home senior care provider, celebrated its 25th anniversary July 24.

The details: The Home Instead location at 421 S. Seguin Ave., New Braunfels, has been owned and operated by Jeremy and Sylvia Farber for the past five years. The veteran-owned business provides non-medical in-home care for seniors in New Braunfels and surrounding areas. The Farbers said their goal is to personalize care for families that meets each family's unique needs.

"This anniversary isn’t simply about the years. It’s about the thousands of families who have trusted us during some of life’s most meaningful moments," the Farbers said in a statement to Community Impact. "As owners, we are incredibly grateful to be entrusted with continuing this legacy. We remain committed to investing in our caregivers, supporting families and strengthening the communities of New Braunfels and the surrounding area for many years to come."

Developers with Corridor Industrial Group broke ground on Phase 2 of Corridor Commercial Center in late June.

The latest: The second phase of the project will bring 35,000 additional square feet of space across four additional buildings with spaces ranging from 1,800 to 11,900 square feet. One of the four buildings will be 5,500 square feet geared toward frontage and retail or showroom space, said Miles Payne, a partner on the project and spokesperson for the development.

Spaces can be used for retail, industrial, commercial or government office tenants, Payne said.

Each building is for lease, for sale or lease-to-purchase, as previously reported by Community Impact. There are also custom floor plan designs available as options.

What’s next: The second phase of the three-phased project is anticipated to be completed in October or November, Payne said.
