TCEQ to hold public hearing for proposed wastewater permit in New Braunfels

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, or TCEQ, is holding a public meeting Oct. 2 for a proposed permit that requests the authorization to dispose of 460,000 gallons of treated domestic wastewater on 117 acres of public access land to serve a new residential development.

Two-minute impact: This permit—proposed by Chesmar Homes and the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority—would be for a wastewater treatment facility and disposal site located 3.5 miles west of the FM 2722 and Hwy. 46 intersection in New Braunfels, according to a news release from the Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance, or GEAA. GEAA is a nonprofit organization that works to promote broad-based advocacy protections and preservations of the Edwards Aquifer.

The proposed facility and disposal site would be located in the drainage basin of the Comal River and in a segment of the Guadalupe River Basin.

Before you go: The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Oak Run Middle School, located at 415 Oak Run Point in New Braunfels.
