Single-family housing project gets greenlight, slated for 2-acre site in Allen

Single-family homes are coming to about 2 acres of land in Allen.

The details: Allen City Council members unanimously approved the rezoning of land at the northwest corner of Allen Heights Drive and Bethany Drive as a single-family residential zoning type at its April 14 meeting.

This comes after the Allen Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval for the requested change at its March 17 meeting.

The site’s prior zoning is planned for agricultural and open space uses, Allen Senior Planner Kim Yockey said. This change enables the development of eight homes, city documents state. The proposed lots range from 6,000-7,900 square feet, per city documents.

The concept plan includes an access point that aligns with Bethany Lakes Park, a northbound left-turn lane and an 8-foot masonry wall, Yockey said.
