7.6% of Kendall County voters cast a ballot during first week of March primary elections early voting

Week one of early voting in the March primary elections has ended, bringing out 3,028 voters in Kendall County.

Kendall County voters are considering candidates for county judge, commissioner seats and other county positions. Being a Republican majority county, most candidates who win the primary election will run uncontested in November, effectively becoming the next elected official for a given seat.

Breaking it down: Of the 39,857 registered voters in Kendall County, 7.6% have cast a ballot either by mail or in person. The total voter turnout in the 2024 primary election was 31.25%, and the total for 2022 was 29%.

As of Feb. 23, 2,394 Republican ballots have been cast, while 634 Democrat ballots have been cast. The largest voter turnout during the first week of early voting was Feb. 20, with 829 ballots cast throughout the day.

Pixie, La Te Da boutiques to merge into one in downtown Boerne

A pair of neighboring shops on the Hill Country mile are set to merge as one this spring.

What we know: Pixie and La Te Da, located at 129 S. Main St. and 133 S. Main St., respectively, will move across the street in April and become one shop, known as La Te Da.

According to a Feb. 17 Facebook post from owner Brandi Sees, the storefront will feature items from both boutiques. It will be located at 170 S. Main St. inside the now-vacant space where Cypress Grille had a bar area.

What they offer: Pixie offers a selection of affordable girls’ and women’s clothing, while La Te Da has accessories, home decor, gifts and more.

La Te Da first opened in 2003, while Pixie opened in 2016, according to their website.

Cocina Ocotlan now serving authentic eats in North San Antonio

A new authentic food option has arrived in the Stone Oak area of North San Antonio.

What you need to know: Food truck Cocina Ocotlan held a grand opening ceremony on Nov. 22. It’s located in the Texas Open Air Markets food truck park.

The truck began as an at-home tamale-baking business, according to their Facebook page.

On the menu: They serve a variety of street tacos, tamales and specialty drinks. Specific dishes include mini tacos, quesabirria, queso tacos and more.

There’s also horchata, soda, tea and lemonade, according to the truck’s Facebook page.
