Gallery: Grapevine High School unveils 120th anniversary mural

A new mural commemorating the 120th anniversary of Grapevine High School and the United States’ 250th anniversary was unveiled April 23.

The mural was designed through a collaboration between Kristi Rucker, an art teacher at Grapevine High School; local artist Raynie Reedy; and two students at the school, Erin Toomey and Morgan Marshall.

The details: Rucker, a Grapevine High School alumnus, said she wanted to create an art piece that was commemorative of the school’s anniversary and the U.S.’s 250th birthday.

“I started teaching here a few years ago and always wanted to do something kind of memorable for the community,” Rucker said.

The mural is visible from one of the main corridors of the school, Rucker added. It is also along the path for the school’s veterans walk and homecoming celebration.
