Three Tune Up Manly Salon locations in New Caney and Humble are now under new ownership, co-owner Brody Farris confirmed via email July 9. Farris owns the men's hair salons with his wife, Amber Farris.

Since taking over ownership of the locations, the Farrises have added new features, such as:

• Renovated store interiors and amenities
• New service promotions

Two Lake Houston-area restaurants and one eatery in New Caney are participating in Houston Restaurant Weeks from Aug. 1-Sept. 7.

How it works: Produced by The Cleverly Stone Foundation, Houston Restaurant Weeks is a multiweek event that helps raise funds for the Houston Food Bank. This year will mark the event's 23rd year, as previously reported by Community Impact.

According to a July 15 news release, more than 350 restaurants across the Greater Houston area are expected to participate in this year's event, and prix fixe menus for brunch, lunch and dinner were announced July 15.

For every dollar donated, approximately three meals are generated by the Houston Food Bank. In 2025, the event raised over $1.6 million, as previously reported.

Staying local: Participating restaurants in northeast Houston include two Saltgrass Steak House locations—one in Humble and one in New Caney—and Zammitti's Italian Ristorante, which is located in Kingwood.

Stay tuned: The list of participating restaurants will be updated daily leading up to the start of the event Aug. 1.

Beginning Dec. 17, Frontier Airlines will offer daily nonstop service from Houston to Puerto Rico, airline officials announced via a July 14 news release. 

The big picture: The new route will run between George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan. With the latest addition, Frontier Airlines will serve 21 destinations from IAH.

In December 2025, the airline added new routes from IAH to three Latin American countries, as previously reported by Community Impact.

Texas Litter Control is a low-cost spay-and-neuter clinic with locations across Harris County and Montgomery County.

The backstory: TLC’s first location was in an 800-foot FEMA trailer located in Spring.

What happened: Deana Love, the executive director for TLC, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that focuses on providing animal spay and neuter services across four locations in Montgomery and Harris counties, said she became involved when she saw the burden that animal rescues were faced with, and she wanted to make a change.

What happened: After hearing about the struggles with Houston-based animal clinic The Greater Good, Love said TLC stepped in to help. The Greater Good Veterinarian Dr. Dallas Kuehl was the first veterinarian Love used when she started in animal rescue work.

To keep Greater Good operating and continue supporting TLC, she wants the community to know that they can help by spreading the word they are open six days a week through social media to remind everyone that it’s there to serve.
