Early voting starts April 20 for Georgetown local elections

Early voting for the May local elections runs April 20-28, with no voting taking place on April 21 or April 26.

Georgetown voters will see one contested race for City Council on their ballots, as well as a proposition to approve the sale of the majority of the city’s water service territory.

Where to vote: Georgetown registered voters may cast their ballots at any polling location in Williamson County during early voting and on election day. There are five early voting locations in Georgetown:

  • Georgetown City Hall: 808 Martin Luther King Jr. St.
  • Georgetown Annex: 100 Wilco Way
  • Georgetown ISD Technology Building: 603 Lakeway Drive
  • The Oaks at Sun City: 301 Del Webb Blvd.
  • City of Georgetown Fire Station No. 6: 6700 Williams Drive

On the ballot: Incumbent Jake French will run against challenger Emily Kaye Kipp for District 6.

Hwy. 29 West
Project:
The Texas Department of Transportation will construct additional travel lanes, lengthen turn lanes and improve traffic signals on Hwy. 29 from Wolf Ranch Parkway to I-35 as well as add shared-use paths.
Update: TxDOT is expected to begin construction in September.

  • Timeline: 2023-27

  • Cost: $12.31 million

  • Funding source: Georgetown Transportation Enhancement Corporation

Austin Avenue pedestrian bridges
Project:
This project will include construction of two pedestrian and bicycle bridges crossing the San Gabriel River, east of the existing Austin Avenue vehicular bridges.
Update: The revised design is tentatively scheduled to complete in July 2027.

  • Timeline: 2023-TBD

  • Cost: $21 million

  • Funding sources: city of Georgetown, developer fees

As part of its annual Earth Day tradition, Keep Austin Beautiful is hosting over a hundred volunteer events focused on beautification and litter removal across the city. Volunteers can find opportunities across each of Austin’s City Council districts.
