The specifics: The median home sales price decreased in four of six ZIP codes year over year. ZIP code 77423 saw the largest year-over-year increase at 10.76%, while ZIP code 77094 saw the largest year-over-year increase at 4.64% and had the largest home sale price at $575,500.

What else: Homes sold quickest in ZIP code 77094 with an average of 32 days on the market. Homes spent the longest on the market in ZIP code 77423 at an average of 86 days.

HCC receives $103K investment to grow Texas energy sector apprenticeship opportunities

Houston City College has received another investment to meet Greater Houston workforce needs.

What’s happening: The college has received a $103,000 investment from NRG Energy Inc. to broaden apprenticeships for students seeking employment in the growing energy industry, officials announced in an Aug. 17 news release.

A closer look: HCC’s instrumentation and controls programs include classroom instruction as well as employer established hands-on training, per the release.

Graduates can expect to gain knowledge in operating, maintaining and troubleshooting automated systems that support power generation and industrial operations.

What they’re saying: “Industry is no longer simply advising higher education, it is helping shape it,” HCC Chancellor Margaret Ford Fisher said. “Through partnerships like this with NRG, Houston City College is preparing students for careers that are in demand today while building the workforce Texas will need tomorrow.”

Astrodome Conservancy seeking redevelopment advice from stakeholders, developers

Officials with the Astrodome Conservancy released a request for information document Aug. 18 seeking advice from developers, investors and operators on the most creative and financially viable ideas to redevelop the iconic Houston landmark known as the Astrodome.

What is it: A request for information (RFI) is a formal business or legal document used to gather general facts, market research, or additional information about features of a product or service from suppliers.

According to the Aug. 18 news release, Astrodome Conservancy officials are specifically seeking input from developers, investors, operators and other stakeholders with experience in large-scale, mixed-use and adaptive reuse projects.

How it works: Interested participants are encouraged by Conservancy officials to submit responses outlining potential concepts, partnership structures, financing approaches or implementation strategies through the submission portal available on the Astrodome Conservancy website. The deadline for responses is Sept. 8.
