Denton ISD teachers could earn higher pay with state-funded allotment

Denton ISD teachers could receive higher salaries following the Texas Education Agency’s approval of the district’s Teacher Incentive Allotment application, DISD announced in a June 16 news release.

The details: The allotment allows for teachers to receive one of four designations, acknowledged, recognized, exemplary or master, with each designation qualifying the teacher for a higher salary through the state-funded allotment for a five-year period, the release states.

“Recognizing and retaining great teachers is a top priority for Denton ISD, and this approval turns that commitment into action,” district Superintendent Susannah O’Bara said in the release.

Some background: The incentive allotment is a state-funded program designed to reward high-performing teachers, according to the allotment’s website. Teachers in Denton ISD could earn an average of an extra $4,121-$15,737 annually based on their designation, the allotment’s funding map states.
