Tumble 22: The Austin-based restaurant serves Nashville-style hot chicken that’s hand breaded and tumbled 22 times for a crunchy texture. The menu features options for sandwiches, bone-in chicken, tenders and chicken bites. Customers will also find salads, deviled eggs, fries, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, broccoli salad, beans, coleslaw, potato salad and house-made pies.

JuiceLand: The new JuiceLand is located next to H-E-B near SH 130 and East Pflugerville Parkway. The Texas-based smoothie and juice bar focuses on health, wellness and a plant-based lifestyle, pairing functional nutrition with a casual, community-oriented vibe according to their website. The menu includes smoothies, cold-pressed juices, functional tonics and plant-based food options.

Mark IV Capital secures $86M funding for Phase 1 of The District

Developer Mark IV Capital is taking the next step to make plans for its multiuse development in Round Rock, The District, a reality. 

What you need to know: Mark IV secured financing from BDT & MSD Partners and a financial affiliate of Apollo, according to a Feb. 2 news release. 

The construction loan in the amount of $86 million will fund build-out of the first phase of The District. 

The details: Plans for Phase 1 of The District include a 316-unit luxury multifamily housing development, with 23,042 square feet of ground-level retail.

Down South Texas BBQ brings neighborhood cookout vibe to North Austin

Owner and self-proclaimed pitmaestro Rico Smith started sharing his barbecue skills with the community while he was working at Texas Roadhouse. Throughout the 2014 summertime, Smith crafted his meals in his apartment complex and his brother made deliveries.

“People would tell me, ‘Hey, it's really good. You should open up a place,’” Smith said. “I'd never listen to what they would say. I loved my job where I was. Eventually over time it does start getting to you and that's when I took a leap of faith.”
