Cedar Park to open community center in old public library building

The city of Cedar Park will open RE|CREATE, its new community center and events space located in the old public library building, July 11, according to a news release.

What you need to know: The center will host various classes and activities, including dance, theater, fitness, visual arts, education, senior programs and more, the news release states.

RE|CREATE, located at 550 Discovery Blvd., will host an open house July 11. The space will be open from 4-7 p.m. for family-friendly programming. It will then close and reopen to adults only from 8-10 p.m. with shows, food and activities, the news release states.

The event is free to attend and open to the public.

Ally Medical Emergency Room now open in Cedar Park

Ally Medical Emergency Room opened a new location along the Austin-Cedar Park line June 30, a spokesperson for the company said in an email.

A closer look: The facility is the company’s eighth in the Austin area, a news release states, and will be staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The emergency room will be staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and experienced clinical staff to treat both adults and children for a full range of emergencies, the release states.

It will also have imaging technology, including CT, X-ray and ultrasound equipment, and an in-house laboratory for rapid test results.

Case against former WilCo sheriff, assistant county attorney dismissed

A case against a former Williamson County elected official and assistant county attorney was dismissed by prosecutors in July.

In a nutshell: A criminal case alleging former Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody and former Assistant Williamson County Attorney Jason Nassour tampered with evidence related to the death of Javier Ambler was dismissed by prosecutors July 1, a news release from the office of Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza states.

The case was dismissed due to a previous judgment preventing evidence against Chody and Nassour from being presented. Per the release, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals declined to review a lower court's decision that the evidence was inadmissible, leaving the state unable to present evidence of guilt.

Honest Mary’s to launch new location in downtown Austin July 14

A new Honest Mary’s location opens in the Seaholm District on July 14, according to its social media. Known for its simple ingredients and dishes made without additives, the restaurant serves signature and customizable bowls, sipping broths and snacks. For a build-your-own bowl, patrons can choose from a protein base, two market sides, two toppings and a sauce. Honest Mary’s also uses hormone-free meat and wild-caught tuna, as opposed to farmed tuna.

Gati Cafe localized worldwide flavors with Texas ingredients

Gati Cafe started out as a dessert spot in East Austin and soon evolved into a cafe serving up vegan ice cream, baked goods, morning meals and mid-day eats with flavors from across the map.

Gati Cafe is rooted in chef and owner Jam Sanitchat’s experience as a traveler and seasoned restaurateur. She moved to the U.S. in 2001 and shortly began teaching cooking classes, selling her food at farmers markets and eventually launching a brick-and-mortar.
