Starting July 1, the Grapevine Fire Department added a new medic unit, while a fire truck was deactivated. The department also increased its minimum daily staffing by one person.

“We’re going to work lean, and we’re going to provide top-notch service to our community," Fire Chief Darrell Brown said.

What you need to know: With 71% of calls to the department for EMS, Brown said the department is making the best decision with what it has to continue meeting the needs of residents.

“The Grapevine Fire Department is not diminishing our service delivery at all,” Brown said. “We’re enhancing it.”

Brown said fire officials originally advocated for adding more personnel, along with a fourth ambulance in 2018. However, a 2021 Fitch & Associates study paid for by the city found that on average, the department’s EMS call volume increased by 2.5%, below the national average of 3% to 7%, from 2017-19.

Baskin-Robbins celebrated the grand opening of its store in Colleyville Towne Square on July 18, an employee confirmed.

The new location opened at the beginning of July, but the ice cream shop hosted a grand opening party with ice cream scoops for $1.50.

Established in 1945, Baskin-Robbins features 31 different ice cream flavors alongside a variety of cakes, pies, milkshakes, sundaes and beverages.

Fort Worth-based American Airlines plans to open its largest Admirals Club lounge within Terminal C at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, according to a news release.

"We're investing in every stage of the premium travel journey at DFW, beginning the moment customers arrive at the airport," American’s Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden said in the news release.

The new Admirals Club in Terminal C, which will be located near the terminal’s Skylink station, will be 37,000 square feet, per the news release.

The space will include a variety of seating options and workspaces.

Provisions by Admirals Club

The Provisions by Admirals Club will be a new grab-and-go kiosk option for travelers within Terminal F. The new terminal’s initial phase will include a 400,000-square-foot building and 15 gates, according to previous reporting.

Flagship check-in

A new check-in experience will open later this year near Gate D30. Eligible customers will be able to take advantage of the dedicated check-in area for flights.

1. Burney Lane/Midway Road rehabilitation
Project: The work will cover the rehabilitation of around 2,950 linear feet of Burney Lane/Midway Road from the intersection of Lonesome Dove Road in Southlake until Meadowmere Lane in Grapevine, according to city documents.
Update: Grapevine City Council approved an interlocal agreement with Tarrant County for the project during a July 7 meeting.
