Toepperwein Road from Nacogdoches Road to Raintree Forest project

  • Project: Part of the 2022-27 bond program, the project will construct roadway improvements, such as sidewalks, curbs, driveway approaches and drainage, on Toepperwein Road from Nacogdoches Road to Raintree Forest.

  • Update: Currently in the design phase, the project is estimated to begin in winter 2027.


Classen Road project

  • Project: Part of the 2022-27 bond program, the project will construct roadway improvements on Classen Road from Classen Spur to Knollcreek Drive. Improvements include extending the roadway, adding two additional lanes and a center turn lane, a sidewalk and a shared-use path, a multi-box drainage culvert and an underground drainage system.

  • Update: Currently in design phase, the project is estimated to begin in spring 2026.

Pittsburgh-based chain MilkShake Factory coming soon to North San Antonio

A dessert chain with locations across the United States is expanding into the San Antonio market with a location on the city’s North Side.

According to a recent announcement from the business, construction officially began at the new location at 21025 N. Hwy. 281, Ste. 1314, on Feb. 9. It’s in the shopping center across from the H-E-B plus!

As of March 18, the location has begun hiring for full- and part-time positions, although no official opening date has been announced at the time of publication.

The context: MilkShake Factory was established in Pittsburgh back in 1914 and now has locations across the United States.

New Braunfels-based Muck & Fuss to open San Antonio location

This New Braunfels-born burger joint is planning to open a second location at 2422 N. Loop 1604 W., San Antonio, this fall. Muck & Fuss serves a selection of gourmet burgers along with craft beers. The restaurant also has truffle fries, milkshakes and more.

YWCA San Antonio opens Harvey E. Najim Early Childhood Education Center

On March 25, YWCA San Antonio hosted a ribbon-cutting and grand-opening ceremony for the Harvey E. Najim Early Childhood Education Center at its Women’s Live and Learn Center.

The overview: The new education center is located within the YWCA’s residential campus and will provide early childhood education and child care. Designed to educate children during critical developmental years while empowering families to move forward, the center supports young mothers as they pursue education, workforce training and long-term economic stability, according to a news release.

What they’re saying: Multiple speakers praised the new childcare center, citing the need for early education to create a healthy child and a strong family.

“Access to high-quality, affordable childcare in your community is the difference for a woman between just surviving and thriving,” Haley Ellison, chair of the board of directors, said.
