McKenna Children’s Museum to celebrate 20 years in New Braunfels

A children’s museum is celebrating a big milestone in New Braunfels this year.

What you need to know: The McKenna Children’s Museum is celebrating its 20th anniversary in New Braunfels throughout 2026. The museum has 11 educational and interactive exhibits covering an array of topics like science, technology, healthy eating habits and history. The McKenna Children's Museum also holds weekly recurring events, educational workshops and festivities, according to its website.

Alice Jewell, CEO of the McKenna Foundation, said she can see the lasting impacts the museum has had on children and young people in the region.

"Being in operation for two decades, we now have the privilege of seeing the generational impact of our work," Jewell said in an email to Community Impact. "Parents who once explored our exhibits as children are now bringing in little ones of their own, and there’s something truly special about that."

The museum will be celebrating its 20-year anniversary with a celebration April 3, according to a Facebook post.

Providence by the Green nears completion

Providence by the Green, a mixed-use development in Stone Oak, is nearing completion.

The big picture: The 15,800-square-foot multiuse facility will include retail, dining and event spaces. Owner Debra Morris said it will feature a community lounge and a rotating pop-up room that will highlight artisans throughout the community. The building combines an angular, minimalist design with expansive glass walls overlooking Canyon Springs Golf Course.

Morris said that the facility has one event space ready, and they are beginning to book and run community events. The new event space is estimated to be fully up and running by summer 2026. Additionally, there are four tenant spaces available for rent.

The second floor is in the bidding process and is estimated to be ready by the end of summer 2026. The third-floor event space is still in the design phase, Morris said.
