The Harris County Emergency Services District No. 9 board of commissioners is scheduled to meet on Sept. 24 to adopt its fiscal year 2026-27 budget and tax rate.

The details: The district, which supports fire suppression and emergency service operations for the Cy-Fair Fire Department, will hold a public hearing regarding a potential tax rate increase during a special meeting before its regular meeting.

Key details regarding the budget and meetings include:

• Based on the no-new-revenue property tax rate of $0.038548 per $100 of valuation, the budget has a projected shortfall of $8.1 million.

• The board proposed a tax rate of $0.045 per $100 of valuation, which would bring in an additional $3.9 million in property tax revenue compared to the no-new-revenue rate.

• The subsequent regular meeting will cover agenda items such as construction reports, district election transparency, and recording and maintaining recordings of closed session meetings.

A second La La Land Cafe location is coming to the Cypress area near Dunham Pointe, according to a Sept. 17 Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing. The yellow-and-white coffee shop chain offers espresso drinks, matcha, and bakery items.

The details for the new location include:

• The address is 14615 Mason Road, Ste. B2-E, Cypress.

• The opening date is currently to be determined.

According to its online menu, favorite drinks at the cafe include the La La Latte, Banana Cloud Latte, Strawberry Cloud Latte and Matcha Squared Latte. La La Land previously opened its first Cypress location in June 2026 at The Boardwalk at Towne Lake.

A new agricultural complex is opening along Hwy. 288 with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

The Farm will be located about three miles from Reliant Park.

The overview: The Farm, which stands for Furthering our Agriculture and Ranching Mission, will offer 1 million square feet to support Texas youth, agriculture, education and Western heritage, according to a Sept. 17 news release from Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

The complex will complement the Rodeo's longstanding home at Reliant Park, according to the news release.
