Flower Mound’s adopted budget includes over $154M in new capital projects

Flower Mound Town Council adopted the fiscal year 2025-26 budget, which includes additional capital project funding and staff raises.

The overview: Council members unanimously voted to adopt the $451.4 million budget at its Sept. 15 meeting. The overall budget revenues are $349.2 million, but town officials said the budget is considered balanced and it includes authorization for capital projects from past fiscal years.

Breaking down the budget: The FY 2025-26 general fund is budgeted at nearly $97.26 million in revenues and $97.22 million in expenditures, according to town documents. Compared to the adopted fiscal 2024-25 fiscal year budget, revenues increased by 1.9% and expenditures grew by 1.79%.

Town employees will receive a 3% raise based on funding allocated in the adopted budget for nondiscretionary items, which totaled $4.4 million, including the compensation increase. Within the town’s general fund, there was only $12,800 included for nondiscretionary increases.

Argyle Party and Gifts to relocate along US 377

Argyle Party and Gifts will be moving to a new location in Argyle later this year, owner Emily Holt said. 

The gist: The business is currently located at 409 US 377, Argyle and will be moving because the property will be redeveloped for new businesses and parking for the Argyle Nature Trail, she said.  The Argyle Municipal Development District granted Holt $42,975 to help with the relocation, per town documents. 

What they offer: Argyle Party and Gifts offers cards, spirit items, flowers, balloons and baked goods, according to the business’ Facebook page. The shop also has baking and craft classes and a seasonal farmers market.

Tous les Jours could be opening a location in Richardson, according to documents filed with the state.

The bakery is a French-Asian fushion restaurant and will offer breads, cakes, sandwiches, pastries and pies in a variety of flavors. It also offers coffee, tea and other specialty drinks.

An opening date is unknown, but documents indicate construction could wrap up in early 2026.

Argyle Council adopts $20.36M budget for FY 2025-26, sets property tax rate

Argyle residents will see a slightly lower property tax rate on their tax bill following the unanimous approval of the property tax rate and fiscal year 2025-26 budget at the Sept. 15 council meeting.

The council adopted a $20.36 million budget for FY 2025-26, which includes funds for road improvements, the town center and police department project, and the Argyle Nature Trail.

“[The budget] achieves our strategic goals,” Council Member Casey Stewart said. “It’s going in the direction that we want as far as spending money where we want.”

Breaking down the budget: The $7.8 million general fund is the largest portion of the budget. Most of the general fund is going to police services, according to town documents. The second biggest general fund expenditure item is $1.3 million, which is being transferred over to the Capital Improvement Program and the equipment replacement fund, per town documents.

Denton County purchases Ponder fire station for $2.1M

Denton County commissioners approved the $2.1 million purchase of the Ponder Volunteer Fire Station at a Sept. 9 meeting as part of an effort to improve emergency services to unincorporated areas, according to a news release.

The gist: Proceeds from the sale will fund 24/7 staffing for emergency services at the Ponder fire station through October 2028, the release states. Denton County will lease the fire station to the Ponder Fire Department for $1 a year, according to county documents, and provide an ambulance to serve the town’s emergency response zone, per the news release.
