Plano commission approves replat for new housing near downtown Plano
Six new single-family homes could soon be built near downtown Plano after receiving commission approval.
What you need to know: At their Sept. 15 meeting, Plano planning and zoning commissioners unanimously approved a replat for six single-family lots located near the intersection of 17th Street and I Avenue. Commissioner Michael Brounoff noted concerns about noise from nearby train tracks but said the property’s location limits its potential uses.
One more thing: The item was originally scheduled for a Sept. 2 vote but was tabled to give the applicant more time to review the average setbacks of nearby properties on I Street, according to city documents.
Neiman Marcus to close Willow Bend store for redevelopment
Neiman Marcus is set to close its Plano store at The Shops at Willow Bend in January, a Saks Global spokesperson confirmed.
The details: Saks Global, parent company of Neiman Marcus, sold the property to Centennial, which is redeveloping the mall into a mixed-use development. Plano officials approved a plan in February for the redevelopment, which includes demolishing the northern section of the mall, from Macy’s to Neiman Marcus.
Quote of note: “The sale was a mutual decision that allows the developer to bring its vision for the area to life, building on the retail foundation with the introduction of new residential, dining and entertainment uses,” the Saks Global spokesperson said in a news release.
