La Dosis offers family-friendly dining, coffee in Cedar Park

La Dosis opened in January 2025 in Cedar Park as a family-friendly coffee bar and restaurant from Taco Crew Management owners Simon Madera and Hobie Sasser, who operate nine restaurants across Central Texas.

The name translates to "the dosage"—referring to whatever gets someone going.

What's special about it: The scratch kitchen makes everything in-house, including housemade syrups, brined chicken, fresh bread and ginger beer.

The menu blends Mexican-inspired dishes like tacos or enchiladas with American comfort food like burgers and chicken sandwiches.

Staying local: The nearly 2-acre property features counter-service dining, outdoor patios, a tree net for kids, an outdoor bar and stage and a scratch kitchen.

They want La Dosis to be a family-friendly space where the community can gather and hold events.

"This place gives something to everyone," Sasser said. "You can be a family, work from here, meet someone for coffee or have a date night in the back.”

The restaurant also sponsors the Cedar Park Stars semi-pro hockey team.

Brushy Creek trail detour, major airport changes: 2 Cedar Park transportation updates to know

Here are two transportation updates updates affecting Cedar Park residents from city and regional sources.

Austin to shutter South Terminal as airport expansion continues; future Concourse M designs revealed: The South Terminal at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport officially shut down March 31 after less than a decade in operation.

The auxiliary terminal will be demolished to make way for new midfield taxiways as part of the multiyear Journey with AUS campus expansion. That includes the addition of the 26-gate Concourse B with a new connecting tunnel to the existing Barbara Jordan Terminal, and the development of a temporary six-gate southern terminal called Concourse M.

Detour in place at Brushy Creek North Fork Trail: Cedar Park residents can expect temporary route changes on the Brushy Creek North Fork Trail as part of the Toro Grande Roadway Improvements Project.

According to a March 24 news release, a detour will be in place at the Brushy Creek bridge through the end of the year.

Cost to prevent a Texas water crisis has more than doubled to $174B, state says

Texas officials released a draft of their next state water plan in April, projecting that state and local governments will need to spend $174 billion in the next 50 years to prevent a water crisis.

The details: The three-member Texas Water Development Board voted April 16 to publish an initial draft of the 2027 State Water Plan, laying out what is needed to prepare for a future “drought of record,” when water demands are highest and supplies are lowest.

The $174 billion price tag is more than twice the cost projected in Texas’ 2022 state water plan, which was $80 billion.

The context: As Texas’ population continues to grow, water restrictions and shortages are becoming more common in areas throughout the state. At the same time, major companies are moving to Texas and communities are contemplating large data center projects, with some residents expressing concerns about high water use in the already drought-prone state.

The proposed plan includes 3,000 proposed water management projects and 6,700 strategies to increase Texas' water supplies through 2080.
