Early voting for the uniform May 2 elections begins April 20. Here’s what voters in Houston’s Bay Area need to know before heading to the polls.

The gist: Early voting will run from April 20-28, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s website.

On the ballot: For Clear Creek ISD, school board Positions 2 and 3 are on the ballot.

The following candidates are vying for the Position 2 seat. An asterisk indicates incumbent:

  • Ernest Hallman

Seabrook opens application for hotel occupancy tax funding

Hotel occupancy tax, or HOT, sponsorship applications are open through June 12 for local businesses, organizations and event organizers who bring overnight visitors to Seabrook hotels, according to an April 15 news release from the city.

What you need to know: The tax supports events and initiatives intended to attract visitors and encourage overnight stays, contributing to local tourism and economic activity, according to the news release. Seabrook City Council will review applications during its July 21 meeting, with funding decisions scheduled to be announced Aug. 3, according to the news release.
