5 new sites to be assessed for erosion control in Plano

Plano City Council approved five more sites to be assessed for erosion control after a meeting Sept. 28.

In a nutshell: The city awarded roughly $270,500 to Walter P. Moore and Associates, Inc. for streambank stabilization, vegetation establishment, outfall reconstruction and sewer realignment services at five sites throughout Plano, per city documents.

The background: Pflanz said the city started a Streambank Stabilization project in 2022 where 127 miles were assessed to determine critical locations in Plano. Pflanz said erosion sites, structures and lake systems were assessed for three years during the project.

The details: Kid Mania closed after 13 years at its Plano location, according to a company social media post. The business has downsized to just its north Fort Worth location, according to the post.

Upcoming projects

  1. Legacy Drive, Stonebrook Parkway widening

Project: Legacy Drive will be widened from Lebanon Road to Stonebrook Parkway. Stonebrook will be widened from Legacy to 4th Army Drive. The roadways will be widened and reconstructed.

Update: The project is in the design phase and expected to start construction later this year.

  • Cost: $20 million

  • Funding source: city of Frisco

  1. FM 1385 widening

Project: FM 1385 from US 380 to Union Park Boulevard in Prosper will be widened to four lanes with curbs and gutters.

Update: The Texas Transportation Commission approved $38.2 million to widen the roadway as part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s 2027 Unified Transportation Program in August, a TxDOT representative said. The Unified Transportation Program is a plan, not an official allocation of funds, so it is subject to change.
