Aug. 11 was the first day of school for Plano ISD students.

The gist: Parents, students and staff gathered at campuses across the district, including Daffron Elementary School.

PISD consists of 42 elementary schools, 12 middle schools, seven high schools and three senior high schools, and serves students across 10 Collin County cities. The district will be adding another facility during this school year, as the Career and Technical Education Center is slate to open in October.

1. Cowboy Chicken
This wood fire rotisserie place opened its first Plano location in May. Cowboy Chicken offers Tex-Mex tacos, rotisserie chicken plates, salads and chicken sandwiches. Customers can also choose various sides like green beans, mashed potatoes and Mexican street corn. Dessert options include peach cobbler and chocolate churro.

A tech company is expanding its Richardson facility and the Einstein Bros. Bagels Terminal A location at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is set to undergo renovations. 1. Celestica expansion in Richardson: The tech company Celestica is expanding its Richardson facility with a new 225,000-square-foot building, according to TDLR documents. An estimated 2,300 jobs will be created in the process, according to previous Community Impact reporting.

La La Land Cafe, a Dallas-based coffee and matcha chain, has opened a new location in Frisco.
