Recent demographic reports show that Clear Creek ISD enrollment is declining due to lower birth rates and a decline in the Hispanic student population.

Demographic officials noted they suspect the decline in enrollment for Hispanic students could be tied to immigration policies. 

Read all about it: At its July meeting, CCISD’s board of trustees heard College Station-based Population & Survey Analysts present a demographics report showing a sharp decline in kindergarten enrollment and enrollment of Hispanic students, as well as a surplus of facility capacity due to an aging student population. 

What else: The district currently has a massive surplus of space, particularly at the elementary level.

The bright side: Increased residential development, such as the 12,500 new units projected to be built in the area over the next decade, could help stabilize future student numbers, PASA demographer Caroline Couch said at the meeting.

After years of planning and preparation, in May, Kelly King opened League City's first membership photography studio, Nine 24 Studios, which offers studio space, props and equipment for budding and professional photographers.

The need: Nine 24 Studios offers monthly membership tiers, beginning at $250, where photographers can book studio time to grow their business, King said. Members will access the studio's lighting, tripods, shooting umbrellas as well as professionally designed sets and backdrops, which are can be swapped out on the studio's 18-foot wide magnetic wall. 

Who it’s for: Nine 24 Studios will offer workshops covering technical skills and photography's business side, which King said will be especially valuable for new photographers who may be trying poorly to self-learn on the internet.

Looking ahead: The studio will welcome its first members in August, when King plans to host a back-to-school themed grand opening celebration.

Greater Houston suburban areas such as Magnolia, Brookshire and La Marque are trending in home sale growth, according to the Houston Association of Realtors' latest Hottest Communities report for the second quarter of 2026.

Breaking it down: Construction of new homes was a significant factor for the growth of many of the top 10 communities, per the report. Additionally, six of the top 10 communities had an average home price below the Houston-area average of $455,159.

The list is led by the Magnolia/1488 West area, which saw a 61.6% increase in sales compared to 2025. Meanwhile, the Huffman area, east of Atascocita, had a 58.2% increase, while Conroe Southwest saw a 38% gain.

What they’re saying: “The communities seeing the most growth right now are the ones where buyers have choices,” HAR Chair Theresa Hill said. “New construction is expanding options and helping more buyers find homes that align with their needs and budget.”
