High Flying Hangars to build 44 private hangars at Denton Enterprise Airport

A New Mexico company, High Flying Hangars, plans to invest over $20 million to bring 44 aircraft hangars to Denton Enterprise Airport in 2026, according to a news release.

What happened: Denton City Council approved a 40-year lease with Hangar Club LLC for 7.91 acres at the airport in June. The hangar space will total at least 110,000 square feet, according to town documents.

What they're saying: “The High Flying Hangars development will bring a much-needed resource to our aviation community and support the growth of the Denton economy,” Mayor Gerard Hudspeth said in the news release.

Bubble tea shop Lazi Cow to open third location in Denton

Bubble tea shop Lazi Cow will open its third Metroplex location in Denton this October, co-owner Kathy Kim said.

What's on the menu: The tea shop offers boba tea, coffee drinks, smoothies and milk shakes, according to their website.

Denton County officials adopt $452.2M budget, lower tax rate

Denton County commissioners unanimously approved adopting a more than $450 million budget and lower tax rate at its meeting Sept. 9.

The overview: The $452.2 million 2025-26 fiscal year budget includes funding for new employees, including around eight additional positions for the county auditor’s office, according to county documents. Denton County Budget Officer Alejandro Moreno said the adopted budget is a $35.7 million increase, or 8.58%, over the fiscal year 2024-25 budget.

“We did a good job balancing the tax rate and also taking care of the necessities that we’re having to deal with at our local level,” County Judge Andy Eads said. “As the federal government contracts grants, we’ve had to be nimble and adjust things.”

TWU officials cut ribbon on new welcome center

Texas Woman’s University staff and officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 4 for the university’s newly renovated Welcome Center at Brackenridge Hall.

What’s happening: The welcome center, located at 402 Administration Drive, consists of 84,000 square feet and will act as the introduction to the university for new and prospective students, TWU Chancellor Carine Feyten said during the ceremony.
