Conchas Cafe Bakery offers traditional Mexican pan dulce in Humble

When Marisol and Jorge Cuevas opened Conchas Cafe Bakery in July 2024, they set out to bring a taste of home to their community in Humble. The family-run bakery, operated alongside their children, serves traditional Mexican pan dulce and coffee, which Marisol Cuevas said is a sweet reflection of her roots and the community she has called home since she was 15.

Craving pan dulce? Conchas Cafe Bakery is a product of the couple’s desire to create a business where their children, Aaliya, Ozzy and Ivan Cuevas, could work together and learn about entrepreneurship, Marisol Cuevas said. The bakery offers traditional Mexican pan dulce, freshly made from scratch every morning. With about 1,200 baked goods made daily, Marisol Cuevas said the conchas tend to be the first to run out. Conchas are seashell-shaped sweet breads flavored with cinnamon and topped with sugar.

To pair its freshly baked delights, Conchas Cafe Bakery offers coffee with coffee beans sourced from Austin. Some favorites from the menu include:

  • Iced horchata coffee
  • Iced strawberry matcha
  • Iced Choco Abuelita

Houston renters find more choice, stable prices as market evolves

The rental-home market in the Houston region is showing signs of balance, with  more homes available to lease while overall pricing remains steady, according to the Houston Association of Realtors’ October 2025 Rental Market Update.

What this means: According to the market update, single-family homes for rent in the Greater Houston area surged in availability. In October, 11,749 single-family homes were available for rent—the highest on record.

Leasing activity remained strong in the same month, 3,725 single-family homes were leased— up 9% from the same month a year earlier, the report states.

Real estate agents added 7,122 new listings to the Multiple Listing Service in October versus 5,935 last year—a 20% year-over-year increase, per the report.

Keep in mind: Despite the surge in available listings, average rents for single-family homes have held roughly flat. The average lease in October was $2,262, the fourth consecutive month with flat pricing, according to the report.

Waymo to launch fully autonomous driving in Houston, Dallas in coming weeks

Waymo is gearing up to roll out fully autonomous driving in Houston and Dallas.

The gist: The move comes as Waymo begins driverless operations in Miami, with launches planned in four additional cities—Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Orlando—over the next several weeks, according to a Nov. 18 news release.

Waymo leaders said expanding to new markets has become increasingly streamlined thanks to its “generalizable” Waymo Driver and a consistent operational playbook.

According to the company, the shift to fully autonomous driving—once viewed as a major technological leap—has become routine as its safety systems and deployment strategy mature.

Diving in deeper: The company reports its vehicles have already shown strong safety performance, with 11 times fewer serious-injury collisions compared with human drivers in its current operating areas.
