Kendall County to hold Feb. 24 public hearing on 3 conservation easements

Kendall County Commissioners on Feb. 24 will consider the next wave of conservation easements through Proposition A funds, bringing three proposals to a public hearing.

What’s happening? Two properties are being brought forward by the Cibolo Center for Conservation, totaling 32.7 acres and 27 acres, respectively.

The third property is 1,556 acres brought forward by Rebecca Canary, with the goals of preserving the property from development or mismanagement.

If approved, the costs associated with creating conservation easements will be covered through Proposition A funds. For the 1,556-acre property, $1.5 million is being requested alongside the transaction costs. According to the agenda, the purpose of the additional funds is to create an endowment for the property, which will be used for maintenance and stewardship of the easement.

The agenda states, “nonprofits will not accept a donated property unless they can sell it and/or the cost of maintaining and stewarding the property is endowed by the donor.”

Boerne antique store offers eclectic furniture, keepsakes and more

After her two sons moved out of the house for college, Graciela Espinoza said she needed to “find something to do” since she felt lost without her children around.

“It was really difficult during that time,” she said. “So I started going to markets across the area."

The result was a trip to an estate sale and the purchase of a 1900s French cabinet, a piece that would become the first part of the collection at Beyond Blessed Keepsakes at 1014 N Main St, Boerne.

The background: Espinoza first opened the antique and vintage store at the Live Oak Shopping Center north of downtown Boerne in July 2025.

What’s special about it? Beyond Blessed Keepsakes offers customers a sprawling selection of antique trinkets, furniture and home decor.

“This is all the stuff I have acquired over the last two years,” Espinoza said. Her collection began back in the spring of 2024.
