✈️ SAT Airport lands $43.25M for airfield safety
San Antonio International Airport received the largest single Airport Improvement Program grant in its history—$43.25 million from the FAA—to build a new underground stormwater system that will eliminate standing water on the airfield near the new terminal development area and cut bird-strike risk.
City leaders framed the project as a critical piece of San Antonio’s transportation infrastructure.

🏛️ Here’s a look at how Texas is using AI in state government
Texas agencies are leaning further into artificial intelligence to make government services more efficient, according to Tony Sauerhoff, executive director of the Texas Department of Information Resources and the state’s chief AI officer, speaking at a Reuters AI conference in Austin on Sept. 24.
Sauerhoff said AI will likely shrink state agency staffing over time, with agencies handling the change through attrition rather than sudden cuts, partly because interest in state government careers is declining.
The Texas Department of Transportation is leading adoption, using AI to analyze infrastructure, prioritize construction and manage traffic flow, while the Texas Workforce Commission and Health and Human Services Commission explore AI for fraud prevention.
