🌊 Bexar County weighs flood-warning funding and a Mission Reach bridge repair

Commissioners Court's Oct. 27 agenda included a $1 million transfer to maintain the county's High Water Alert Lifesaving Technology flood-warning system for fiscal year 2026-27.

The agenda also listed a task order of up to $300,000 to repair the Concepcion Creek bridge on the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River. The county has not posted the court's action on either item.

🏛️ Bexar County considers a countywide PACE program

Commissioners Court was scheduled to hold a public hearing Oct. 27 on a proposed Property Assessed Clean Energy program.

A resolution on the agenda would establish the program countywide, allowing owners of qualified property to enter PACE financing arrangements. Whether commissioners adopted it has not been posted.

💻 Northside ISD's bond ballot includes $60.1M for technology

Northside ISD voters will decide four ballot measures Nov. 3, and two of them include $60.1 million for technology.

Proposition B, the general facilities bond, includes $4.1 million for network hardware, campus wireless upgrades and data center backup equipment. Proposition C would provide $56 million for student devices and updated computers for teachers and staff. Early voting ends Oct. 30.

🗳️ 4.5M Texans cast ballots in first week of early voting

More than 4.5 million Texans cast ballots in the first seven days of early voting in the Nov. 3 election, state data shows. From Oct. 19-25, 23.8% of Texas' 19 million registered voters had voted in person or by mail.

That's slightly below turnout at the same point in 2018, when 24.3% of registered voters had cast ballots, and several percentage points above 2022.

Some local election officials have braced for higher-than-usual turnout in this year's midterm, which is marked by a high-profile, multimillion-dollar U.S. Senate race at the top of the ballot. Registered voters can visit any polling place in their county through Oct. 30, the last day of early voting. Read more. →
