🏛️ SA Council to weigh who signs off on bond committee leaders
San Antonio City Council is set to consider an ordinance Oct. 21 that would require council approval of the tri-chairs for the city's 2027-2032 Community Bond Committees.
The proposal would also create an ad hoc council subcommittee to review those appointments before the full council acts. Council members Teri Castillo, Marina Alderete Gavito and Marc Whyte requested the item.
💼 New SA business incentives head to a Nov. 5 vote
San Antonio Council members are expected to vote Nov. 5 on updated economic development incentive guidelines they were briefed on Oct. 15. The current guidelines expire at the end of 2026.
The draft would add tax abatements for research and development and steer more incentives toward VIA's Green and Silver Line corridors. Under the proposal, a business investing at least $5 million could be eligible for a 50% tax abatement or rebate.
Staff also presented concept plans for redeveloping Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium after the Missions move to a new downtown ballpark in 2029.
💧 Schertz and Cibolo to talk water
The Schertz and Cibolo city councils are scheduled to hold a joint workshop at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Hal Baldwin Municipal Complex, 1400 Schertz Parkway, Bldg. 4.
The agenda includes each city's water portfolio and projected needs, and the framework for a possible sale or lease of the Cibolo Valley Local Government Corporation's water assets.
🎒 Head Start applications are open
The city is accepting applications for its Head Start preschool program for children ages 3-5 for the 2026-27 school year. All families are encouraged to apply; eligibility is based on federal poverty guidelines or other qualifying factors. Families can apply at SAHeadStart.org.
