🏭 Council weighs how tightly to regulate data centers
San Antonio City Council members heard options Oct. 14 for regulating data centers, which city staff say the code doesn't currently regulate.
One option would limit them to industrial and heavy commercial zones. It would require 500 feet of separation from homes and schools and ban them in the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone.
The other would have the council approve each project case by case. Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones floated a third path requiring council approval and a 45-day pre-filing notice.
The San Antonio Zoning Commission takes up the changes Oct. 20, with council consideration scheduled for Oct. 29.
🏥 Bexar County reaffirms support for BAMC's trauma role

The vote came amid reports that Methodist Healthcare is seeking a Level II trauma designation. The resolution calls for a coordinated, data-driven evaluation of proposed changes in trauma capacity.

🗳️ What to know: Early voting begins Oct. 19 in Texas midterm election
Early voting for the Nov. 3 midterm election runs Oct. 19-30.
Texans will see federal, state and local races on the ballot, including a U.S. Senate race between Libertarian Ted Brown, Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico. The governor's race includes Republican incumbent Greg Abbott, Libertarian Pat Dixon and Democrat Gina Hinojosa.
The deadline to register to vote or update a registration was Oct. 5.
Voters on the suspense list can still vote by completing a statement of residence form, and Texans who registered before the deadline but do not appear on the rolls can cast a provisional ballot.
Voters must bring one of seven forms of approved ID; those without one can sign a reasonable impediment declaration at the polls and show a supporting document, such as a utility bill.
Applications to vote by mail must be received by Oct. 23. Read more. →
